Kiernan Jordan Forbes, better known by his stage name AKA, is a South African rapper originally from Cape Town.

In 2002, Forbes was part of the rap group "Entitiy" who had a hit with "Touch N Go". Entity were nominated in 2005 for "Best African Hip Hop" at the KORA Awards and performed during the event.

After Entity disbanded in 2006, AKA went on to study sound engineering and later joined Buks and Kamza to form the production collective, I.V. League. His production credits include tracks by PRO, Tuks Senganga, Andile, Shugasmakx, Khuli Chana, Teargas, Psyfo, Jub Jub, Loyiso Bala, Bala Brothers, Jae, JR and Proverb.

AKA launched his solo career with hits like "Mistakes", "In My Walk" and "Do It" with the latter making it to number 1 on the South African 5FM Top 40. AKA then released his debut mixtape, "24/7366." The mixtape is widely regarded as one of the best mixtapes to come from a South African rapper. AKA then went on to release his then highly anticipated debut album, "Altar Ego," with "Victory Lap", "All I Know", "Bang", "Mistakes" and "Ladies is Pimps Too" as singles. He won Metro FM Music Awards for "Best Newcomer", "Best Hip Hop" as a solo act and "Best Produced Album" for Altar Ego. AKA then won "Best Male", "Best Street Urban Music Album" as well as "Best Produced Album" at the 18th MTN SAMA Awards. It is then that he was dubbed "Prince of South African Rap". He also won "Best Dressed man" during the GQ Awards in South Africa alongside Oscar Pistorius.

In 2011 AKA's song "Victory Lap" won Channel O's Most Gifted Hip-Hop Video at the 7th annual Channel O Music Video Awards.

AKA has opened for Kanye West, Snoop Lion, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar in their South African tours.

After going on what seemed to be a little hiatus, AKA released a single called, "Jealousy" in August 2012. The song took a completely different direction compared to what a he put out on Altar Ego. It was also the first song he produced without IV League. The song contains a sample of Martin Solveig's "Jealousy." The video was released in September of the same year and featured came appareances from Khuli Chana, Da L.E.S, Benny McCarthy, Bonang Matheba and many others. The car AKA is riding in is said to belong to South African House DJ, DJ Cleo.
