Real name, Nwigwe Chineme, hails from the eastern part of Nigeria. Anambra state to be precise. He was born and bred in Lagos. He lived in Ikoyi almost all his life before moving to Surulere. GASS comes from a musical lineage. His grandfather was a music instructor in the church and that just trickled down the family line.
He started music at the tender age of 8. Being in his school choir, he developed his musical skill as a singer. He eventually picked up an interest in rap growing up with influences like Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G, Lucky Dube, Lil' Wayne and Drake to name a few. Along the line, he learnt the art of fusing singing and rapping together which is evident in his style of music .
GASS however realized his love for creating music and kept writing and harnessing his gift. He graduated from the university before he could fully partake in the music business. He finished with a degree in International Relations.
