Authenticity is frequently a forgotten concept in the current musical climate. Artists pretend, imitate, and exaggerate as if it’s necessary to attain success. Too often, we’re offered tales of fiction presented as fact, only for the veil to be pulled from our eyes when the reality of an artist’s background is brought to light.

Luckily for fans of authenticity, there is LayLO, aka Mr.GoHaitiGo. Born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, the Haitian-American rapper offers lyrical compositions informed by his Haitian culture, as well as his turbulent background, which includes losing his mother to the street life at an early age, as well as surviving his own harrowing experiences that left him with ten bullet wounds. 

Make no mistake, however; LayLO’s intention is not to glorify these themes. The 27 yr. old emcee managed to turn his life around, and instead wishes to captivate audiences with reflections of his past life, and channel his musical efforts into creating a better life for himself and his family. Lyrically, LayLO conveys his content over modern rap beats, with a vocal delivery that includes a slick incorporation of his Floridian drawl, as well as a unique flow that makes him a stand out among fellow contemporary rappers.

With Florida on his back, and the Haitian flag held high, LayLO is certainly an artist to follow in the coming months. His debut album, “Tha TMZ: Trap Money Zone”, is set to release later this year.
