Ajegunle-born Eric Obuh is an Afro-pop/Dancehall musician whose songs raise awareness on various social issues and has performed all over the world including London, Manchester, Lagos, Abeokuta, and Johannesburg.

From 2000 to 2009, he was a popular scavenger at the Ojota refuse dumb site before the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) produced a documentary titled “Welcome to Lagos” where he was featured as the lead character on the operations of scavengers at dump sites.

Eric consults for Wecyclers, an urban recycling outfit in Lagos as an ambassador on waste and the environment. His other projects involve mentoring, working in rural communities and public speaking where he has given several talks at the Department of Social Works, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos. He was also a guest speaker at the One Touch Foundation youth programme in May 2011, as well as at the Club Still Standing (a meeting point for sickle cell sufferers), Alchemy of Success event, Google SYNC powered by Google Nigeria, Slum2School orientation for volunteers, Hacey Health talk and Charity Talk TV.

He recently spoke at The “Guardian” UK’s “Activate” conference, which held on June 2014 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Eric is the founder of Ghetto Love Empowerment Foundation established to give scholarships and to bring empowerment, entertainment, mentorship, health awareness, HIV/AIDS campaigns in several slums including Ajegunle, Oshodi, Makoko, Iwaya and Itire. To date, about 2500 children have benefited directly.

In 2010, he was the recipient of the “Zeal to Succeed Award” by the union of All Afro-Caribbean Universities in UK. In 2013, through the Love Empowerment Foundation, he was also recognized and nominated by the UK Life-Changers Award committee. Ghetto Love was also nominated in the “Best Advocacy Campaign of the Year” category in the “Life-Changers Awards”, held in November 2013 in the United Kingdom. In December 2013, he received a certificate of recognition from the JADE Academy for his efforts towards youth and social development in Nigeria. In 2014, he won a Google Africa award at the Africa Connected web summit, which held in Nairobi, Kenya, for his amazing success story and his Ghetto Love Foundation's support for ghetto children and youths.
