Music was always my constant. If other things were falling apart in my life, or I was in a state of transition, I always had my music to fall back on. Some of my friends identify themselves through their job title and others with their position in their own family. For me it's music. My mother always mentioned how much stage presence I have always had since the age of 5. I would constantly sing to myself and to others. I would dance and perform at school plays and I joined band/choir early in the 3rd Grade. By the time I hit middle school I joined the Jazz Band, and periodically started picking up different instruments and began learning how to read sheet music in Treble, Alto and Bass clef (I have a bass clef tattooed on my right arm). I just kept with it, and then was recruited by my high school to join Orchestra/Choir & Theater.

Even at the age of 14, I was passionate and dedicated to my craft. I graduated with Music Honors and was a part of the Tri-M Music Group by senior year. With all this going on, I was so curious about music and music production. I was listening to a lot rap at the time and I just kept saying to myself, "Man I can make beats like this in my head, I have to learn how!" So with yellow, Sony Sports Walkman Cassette player (which I took from home) and I would hit the mall and I would start looking through Cassettes, and CDs. I would listen to as much different music as I could until they kicked me out. I saw it as just studying, or learning.

I would start making beats during school lunch, and I would start writing rhymes. Just being curious, but always thinking in the back of my head that I can do this. I got this! My mother was a teacher, and in 2004 as a graduation she was able to get me used Dell Ogiplex PC (she told me later, that the school about to throw it out and make wave for the new computers they had coming). I was working part time at a pool as a lifeguard and I bought myself a Logitech Desktop Mic for $9 at a pawn shop. I always was able to get my hands on a CD copy of Ejay Production software and I also got a copy of Audacity Vocal Recording software from a few friends of mine. With no training and no internet, I just went to work. I stayed up all night and all day clicking, and recording and editing and looping beats.

I really kept at it, and didn't go to college right away, because I just couldn't afford it. So I kept working my part time jobs, and I was hanging out in the streets with a few friends of mine. After a few run ins with the law, and a few charges on my record. I decided to refocus back on my music and I began making my own songs, and I thought about battling to help better my bars. I would travel to different bars and clubs throughout Chicago, Northside, Southside and Westside just looking for battles or other artists to collaborate with. At the same time I was applying for Financial Aid and applying at local junior colleges because I thought school would straighten me out and by getting a degree I would make enough money to further my music career on the side. 

I met up with so many artists, that I began rapping to be placed on mixtapes. When that didn't happen, I started my own mixtapes and began creating my own beats and slowing backed off from the mic. So I could be behind the boards. I personally think it was the decision I made. I literally taught myself how to record, mix down, and master songs. As I kept on with this, in the industry you meet new people and learn new things. While I was working as a bouncer for Heavenly Bodies Gentlemen's Club, I had the opportunity to work as the "fill in" DJ for a day shift because the original DJ was sick. I nailed it, the club owners didn't know that I have been working and practicing music this whole time.

I bought myself and Pioneer DDJ-SB used from a good friend of mine and I took off! I started DJing parties, BBQs, weddings, mixtapes parties etc. I currently am a Freelance DJ backed up by Fleet Club DJs and I've worked in Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and of course Chicago. I've been a professional DJ now for 5 years. I am very lucky to be where I am now, and I do not see myself slowing down anytime soon. I have an EDM mixtape I will releasing this summer titled "LIGHTS 0UT". Plenty more gigs in the mix and I can't wait to see what's next for me.
